Since 1991, SafeLink presenters have been providing workshops to diverse audiences. Its on-site services are conducted to audiences of companies' general employee population. Safelink consultants also provide train-the-trainer workshops for employees who are charged with the responsibility for employee health and safety within their organization. The on-site services with clients prior to and after OSHA inspections are proven to be a valuable asset to a company's health and safety program.

Mary A. Borg, SafeLink Inc. President and Senior Compliance Advisor

Mary Borg is the Co-founder and President of SafeLink Inc. Since 1991, Mary has actively participated as a presenter and on-site instructor to audiences of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental laboratory technicians throughout the US. Prior to founding Safelink, Mary held senior level management positions in mortgage banking, banking, and the family entertainment business. Her positions included responsibility for Facilities Management, Human Resources, Risk Management, Crisis and Disaster Recovery, and Health and Safety.

Her formal education was gained at Bauder College in Atlanta and Georgia State University. She is an active member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) which has a membership of 2,000. Mary is also an Authorized trainer under OSHA's Outreach Program. Mary’s articles on safety have been published in numerous dental publications. Currently, she is a department writer on the topic of risk management for JDT Unbound and is also on the Advisory Board of the Dental Spectrum. In October 2003, she was presented by the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) a Merit Award in recognition of her contributions and outstanding service to the dental laboratory industry and to the NADL. She was a contributor in the development of the revised Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings - 2003 issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Mary is also an instructor for the NADL University on the subject of quality assurance, an external auditor for quality assurance (including DAMAS system), and presenter at workshops and tradeshows on the topic of quality systems and health and safety.

Gary D. Morgan, CDT, SafeLink Inc. Senior Compliance Advisor

Gary Morgan is a Senior Compliance Advisor with SafeLink. After completion of studies in History and Government at the University of Texas at Austin, Gary worked for three years in retail business management and human resources. In 1977 Gary joined Morgan Dental Laboratory, which his wife founded in 1975. Gary became a Certified Dental Technician in 1991. Active in the Dental Laboratory Association of Texas, Gary served as Legal and Governmental Affairs Chairman for DLAT since 1987, representing members before governmental agencies, the State Board of Dental Examiners, and the Texas Legislature. Gary began lecturing on safety and infection control in 1989 and is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer. Gary is also an external auditor for quality assurance (including the DAMAS system) and presenter at workshops and tradeshows on the topic of quality systems and health and safety. Most recently in 2008, Gary was awarded the Merit Award for Oustanding Achievement for the Dental Laboratory Profession by the National Association of Dental Laboratories.

Hugh D. McMahon, CDT, SafeLink Inc. Compliance Advisor

Hugh McMahon has been a Compliance Advisor with SafeLink since 1994. Hugh has participated as an educational clinician to audiences of dentist, dental hygienists, dental asistants, and dental laboratory technicians throughout the U.S.A. and internationally. He is also an Engineer/Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician for the Charlotte, North Carolina Fire Department. He presently holds certifications in confined space rescue, vehicle extrication, hazardous material operations, and aircraft rescue/fire protection. Hugh is an authorized external auditor for quality assurance, including the DAMAS system.


Hugh graduated from Pasadena City College, Pasadena, CA in 1970 receiving an Associate Arts Degree in Dental Laboratory Technology. He has worked in and served the dental laboratory industry as a certified dental laboratory technician, a full service dental laboratory owner/operator, Director of Technical Services and Director of Education for several major dental companies.

Walter C. Tieck, Jr., CDT, SafeLink Inc. Compliance Advisor

Walter C. Tieck, Jr., CDT is a Compliance Advisor with Safelink and has been a presenter for Safelink on employee health and safety in the dental environment since 1998. During his career in the Air Force, he managed laboratories with 3 to 55 technicians, was the Director of the mid-level management school in Germany, and also managed a full service, 47 chair dental clinic with a general dentistry residency. He retired from the Office of the Assistant Surgeon General for Air Force Dental Services as the career field manager for dental assistants and laboratory technicians, responsible for career progression, training, and assignments. Walter began his laboratory technician career in New York City over 33 years ago. He is a graduate of New York School of Mechanical Dentistry, and holds an Associate of Sciences Degree in Dental Laboratory Technology from The Community College of the Air Force and an Associate of Arts Degree in Management from St. Leo College. Walter is an authorized trainer under OSHA’s Outreach Program.

April McDowell joined the SafeLink team in May 2006 and brings a diverse background in safety, occupational health, workers compensation and industrial hygiene to our company. Prior to joining SafeLink, she served as a member of management in several industries to lead their safety and occupational health programs to regulatory compliance and on-the-job injury reduction. Primarily working in the healthcare industry, April will share her ideas and experiences with SafeLink clients to further their compliance programs as well.

April’s formal education was achieved at Murray State University in Kentucky. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering and an Area of Concentration in Industrial Hygiene, recognized internationally as one of the top ranked programs in this field of study. She has also completed additional courses covering OSHA compliance subjects such as Ergonomics, Respiratory Protection, Process Safety, Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response and even led one employer to achieve the Star level of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program. We encourage our clients to make use of April and all that she brings to our company. April is also a presenter at workshops and tradeshows on the topic of health and safety.
